AT&T Moving Tips

Moving Internet and AT&T services to a new address is much easier if your move is organized and well planned. For the best moving experience possible, follow this checklist and these extra tips:

Two Months Prior:

1. Make sure that your existing AT&T plan is available at your new address. You may need to change plans.

2. Call an AT&T specialist at 1-800-346-8113 to take advantage of bundle services at your new address.

30 Days Prior:

1. Move your utilities and services at the one-month mark. This includes canceling, transferring, or starting new contracts for electricity, gas, Internet, cable, home warranty, etc. Call AT&T to move their provided services.

2. Change your address. You will need to provide your new address for all current or new contracts for AT&T services.

Two Weeks Prior:

1. Confirm your move-out date with your moving company. Also, provide your new address and current disconnection date to AT&T if you are an existing customer.

2. Pack your non-essentials.

One Week Prior:

1. Budget your move and plan your payment for the movers. Make sure your bills are paid or are budgeted for once you start new Phone, Internet, or TV services.

2. Prepare your home for the move with a deep clean.

One to Two Days Prior:

1. Return any rented routers or modems to your service provider if you are changing providers.

Move-Out Day:

Q: How do I change my AT&T billing address?

A: You can change your billing address using your online AT&T account. First, sign in with your login information, then select “Popular Tasks Update” within the “View Profile” tab. From there, you can change your billing address.

Q: I forgot my U-verse ID. What should I do if I’m moving AT&T services?

A: Your U-verse ID should be the same as the email address that you used to sign up for AT&T services.

Q: Can you transfer AT&T Internet to another person?

A: You can transfer all or part of an AT&T account to a new owner, but you need to separate all services first if they are currently bundled.

Q: Can I take my Internet modem to another house?

A: If you want to move your AT&T wireless Internet to another address, simply change your address in your online account to keep your Internet activated.

Q: Can I purchase my own modem when moving AT&T Internet?

A: AT&T Internet requires the AT&T WiFi Gateway router for your Internet connection. At this time, your personal modem will not be compatible with AT&T Internet or other AT&T products and services.

Q: What is fiber Internet? Is it available everywhere?

A: Fiber internet converts electrical signals carrying data to light that passes through thin fibers. It is faster than DSL and cable Internet by tens to hundreds of Mbps.

AT&T FiberSM is not available in every city, though its availability is gradually expanding as it becomes more popular. Check with an AT&T specialist to determine if high-speed fiber Internet is available in your area.*

Q: Does AT&T charge for installation?

A: There is a fee for professional installation. This cost may be included in your service’s monthly fee. Ask your AT&T moving specialist about the fees for your specific plan.

Q: Will I be charged if I disconnect my service before 12 months?

A: Yes, you may be charged. Packages have a required year-long contract. Disconnecting the service prematurely can result in a prorated early termination fee (ETF). Refer to the offer details for your selected AT&T service.

Q: Is U-verse available in all U.S. regions?

A: AT&T U-verse TV is available in select regions. AT&T offers other TV packages in regions where AT&T U-verse is not available.

Q: Do I have to have a satellite dish installed in my new home to watch U-verse TV?

A: No. AT&T U-verse moving does not require a dish. U-verse TV is a fiber and cable hybrid service.

Q: Is U-verse wireless?

A: Yes. Moving AT&T U-verse is made easy with TV packages that all include a wireless receiver. You can place the wireless receiver anywhere in your home.

Q: Is U-verse TV available on the computer?
